Villa Barbi Orvieto Classico from Italy pairs well with Lenten fish | Phil Your Glass
Ash Wednesday, which signals the start of Lent for Christians around the world, is March 5. We’re going to need a great bottle of wine to go with all of the Friday night carryout fish dinners and sushi. The wine was also great with wild jumbo snow crab legs.
This lovely wine is a blend of 50% Grechetto, 20% sauvignon blanc, 20% vermentino, 10% procanico grapes. Lemon zest aromas fill your glass followed by subtle creamy citrus flavors and minerality with every sip.
Available by the glass at Crave, paired with any of the wonderful seafood appetizers or entrees on the menu. Visit the Grape Juice Room within Crave to buy by the bottle for later.
This Argentinian malbec will have you asking, 'Where's the beef?' | Phil Your Glass
After Akron Beacon Journal's Phil Masturzo (Phil Your Glass) tasted over sixty wines celebrating Malbec World Day on Embassy Row, Wapisa Argentinian malbec was one of the "stellar wines he tasted that clearly stood out from a selection of over sixty wines".
"I was happy to find this wine was available locally. The following week, I spotted a bottle in the wine room at Crave in downtown Akron. I immediately ordered the $14.50 steak skewer appetizer. The intense black raspberry and currant flavors of this wine complemented the chimichurri rub and spicy sriracha drizzle. The creamy and gooey manchego fondue was the cherry on top."
